Studio History

Studio UniformThe dream of Steps To Stardom all began many years ago when sisters Cathryn & Annette Hill were as young as 4 & 6yrs of age. When they grew up, all they wanted to do was teach dancing and have a studio of their own.

In 1994, this dream became a reality. Steps To Stardom Dance Academy opened its doors at Ambarvale Recreation Centre. The sisters love of dance was infectious and after one year the studio was flourishing. Within 5 years, the studio had taken over 4 rooms at Ambarvale recreation centre and plans for a new custom designed building were in the works.

During this period of time, the studio expanded to over 300 students, and also incorporated Singing, Drama, National Character and Modern. The studio also began receiving exceptional results in exams and competitions throughout Australia.

In 2000, the dream of having their own custom built premises became a reality. To accompany this outstanding achievement, the studio changed its name Steps To Stardom Performing Arts Academy and also included Piano.

In the past 11 years, students have travelled to Italy, France, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Los Angeles to dance and have enjoyed immense success at major Australian Competitions including The City of Sydney Performing Arts Challenge.

2008 saw the beginning of a new era for S2S with the opening of their 2nd premises in Narellan. The popularity of Acro / Tumbling & Cheerleading over the years had grown immensely and the need for specialised premises became a necessity. They quickly outgrew their new premises and moved into a giant 780Sq Unit in Smeaton Grange to house a unique and amazing gym with custom fit out for Cheerleading, Tumbling, Trampolining, and Aerial Arts, as wall as 2 amazing dance rooms.

The Academy now boasts 11 Dance teachers, 7 Acro / Tumbling, Cheer & Trampoline teachers, 1 Aerial Arts teacher, 3 Music teachers and 5 Office Staff, all of whom have an infectious passion for the performing arts.

The studio looks forward to many more decades of service to all students and families in the Macarthur area who also share the love of performing arts.
