Jodie Anthony

(Teaches Acrobatics / Tumbling, and Cheerleading)

Jodie is a fully qualified level 2 gymnastics coach with 23 years experience coaching gymnasts of all ages and abilities. Her years of coaching have covered many areas of gymnastics including fun recreational classes, school gymnastics programs, state and national womens and mens levels gymnastics, national elite gymnastics and national and world display gymnastics.

As a gymnast Jodie competed for a local club for 12 years being successful at club, regional and state levels. She then went on to coach for this club for many years, being appointed head coach and running the very large club for 8 years. Her career highlights include being appointed a satellite coach for the Australian Institute of Sport whereby she trained local gymnasts in conjunction with the AIS program. Many of her students were awarded full AIS scholarships and were very successful at state and national competitions with some being selected into the Olympic national training squad.

One of her most important achievements was being awarded the 1994 Junior Coach Of The Year by the NSW Sports Federation and from this she was then nominated into the Young Australian Of the Year awards.

Jodie has shown great success with her flair for choreography in both womens gymnastics and display gymnastics. Her display team was awarded “best display” at the 1994 National Gymfest and from this was selected to represent Australia at the main event of the 1995 World Gymnaestrada, the most prestigious display event on the world calendar. She has also choreographed very successful floor and beam routines for many state and national level elite gymnasts.

Jodie has been a member of the Steps 2 Stardom staff for 3 years teaching her exciting tumbling, acro, cheerleading and display programmes which are a wonderful enhancement to our very successful dance classes. Her acro performance group and cheerleading teams are about to embark on their first year at a competitive level, aiming at state level competion in 2008.
